So smooth and elegant, lots of sediment but fully mature and a real treat with grilled ribeye steaks. Balanced and medium bodied with a longer finish than I anticipated. Will hunt for more!

Cocoa powder, roasted hazelnuts and caramel initially on the nose. 1/2 hour later deep grape and plum. Still a lot of backbone and slightly acidic on the finish.

Suprisingly a very nice wine-- even held for a couple days after opening. Oaky, very nice nose, dark ruby color, nicely balanced, velvety smooth. Still has time (unfortunately I'm out).

Oaky, withering tannins, dense berry fruit buried beneath the outer wall of tannic protection. It's so misleading to attempt to perform a legitimate tasting of this kind of wine in the noise and disturbance and from a freshly opened bottle (and with plastic cups). One really has to extrapolate to imagine a point years in the future and guess.

Decanted for about 30 minutes, which was probably a little too short because on first taste the wine was still very closed. After another 15 minutes of sitting in the glass while I finished up cooking dinner it really started to come together. So fragrant that I could smell the fruit from 5 feet away. Dark ruby color in the glass with legs that never stopped coating the edges. The flavor starts out with a huge burst of fruit which gradually shifts to a slightly smokey aftertaste and begins to dry out your mouth. Every sip getting better and better. This is exactly what I imagine when I think of a big, bold red.
