Vanilla, nougat, some spice that feels very familiar but that I can't pick. Mostly tertiary but there's still some fruit. Struggling to write descriptors but I've really enjoyed this, though I think most people would prefer it younger.

Needed 45 mins in the decanter to blow off some mustiness. All seondary and terirarty notes now, nougat, cream cheese and cashew. Long, full and flavoursome. Enjoyed this.

NobleRottersSydney - Yarra v Margaret (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} [Graeme] A somewhat higher level (less ullage) than the slightly disappointing bottle last July. Still barely darker than mid-yellow. Smells fairly aged, with toasty, browning aromas, but with all kinds of dimensions to them. Developed melon and butter flavours, spice, sandalwood, with a laser-even palate and a long savoury finish. Oak is evident but the wine’s not woody at all. Medium weight, medium acid. Really good. A tribute to the no-malo approach of the Mount Mary team. On this showing, will hold, if you win the cork lottery.

NobleRottersSydney - Mount Mary (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} Slightly lower level than the 2000 (I was a touch trepidatious) although a lighter colour. No sign of leakage so maybe it was just the fill. Advanced nose, buttery, with aged oak characters. Palate was similar, with nuts, and a little bit of sherry-like oxidative flavour. Savoury and grainy; not much fruit but all texture and tertiary flavours. Still has fresh medium acidity and an even, if low key palate. Nice wine, but seems to miss the mark just a little, and the short/medium finish confirms.

SLDS June 2017 #2: Blind. Honey, toast, lanolin, lemon and oyster shell. Lean and fine, the fruit is there but rather restrained. This is right in the sweet spot for drinking now. Really good length.

Hmm, not sure what to think of this. Definitely a few notches down from my last bottle in 2009. The peach and nutty notes are still there but are over powered by strong, pithy, bitter grapefruit. The fruit seemed a little dull and hollow. Didn't appear scalped in anyway, just a bit tired and unbalanced. Quite textural on the palate. Full bodied.

Leveling the Lands - Blind: Floral, mandarin, pineapple, passionfruit and lemon - a very lifted and bright nose. Good balance, it is clean and quite lithe. Composed and has poise, but while I like it, it isn't nearly as impressive as a previous bottle.

Only had a small glass as was predominantly consumed by my far better half and her friend. They demolished it in quick time and had me racing back to the cellar for another bottle. Lovely developed and rounded Chardonnay with a beautiful honeyed texture and hue. Nice depth and palate length. For me it had a very slight sharpness on the finish that I don't remember from less mature bottles.

Aromas of white stone fruit with some nutty characters and vanilla. On the palate it initially displays some mineral character, before showing more richness and buttery oak, and it has a good amount of acidity. I am impressed by the complexity of this wine, and for me the balance of fruit and secondary flavours makes it excellent drinking now.

Still shows good freshness with melon and lemon, but is also starting to take on a slight nutty character. Palate is the highlight, texturally excellent and great length. Really superb.

"2011" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/17/2010-10/22/2010 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {cork, 13.5%} [Erik] Lemon-gold. Mostly youthful aromas of light butterscotch and lightly cedary oak. Actually, there was a bit more to it than that. The palate is still tightly wound, with stone fruit aromas keeping the oak in the background. Lively acidity carries the flavours well (no malolactic ferment here, as is the Mount Mary way). Medium-bodied, with just a touch of tannic grip, and a medium-long finish that coats the length of the palate. Classy wine. Another 4-5 years will be no trouble at all and should see further development.

Very clear, pale. Light, clean, crisp, fruity. Pure, fruit is austere, spicy and crisp, not overly fleshy. Balanced and long. Opened up to show some Peach with cream and honey. Pure and classy.

Golden hue. Aromas of white peach, cashew with some yeasty complexity (reminds me of vegemite...but in a good way). Palate is rich with a lovely concentration and mouthfeel; it contains a little more mineralite than the nose gives off. Good length. A lovely chardonnay that's drinking well now but my guess is that it will continue to develop for some time still.

Tasted on Saturday night with cheese. Very youthful looking for an Australian Chardonnay of this age (they can brown quite quickly). Only just starting to show secondary characters, still very fresh, very clean and elegant in style. Some peach/citrus notes backed up by stonefruits and a little sweaty/earthy character. I would rate this as enjoyable as a good village Burgundy and was an excellent representation of what can be done with Chardonnay in the Yarra Valley. It has an elegance and refinement which not very many Aussie Chardonnay's manage to pull off. They are normally too lean or too fat but this had plenty of richness and weight through the middle and loads of charm. It improved even more with aeration and would probably still keep for a few more years before it starts to fade. It drank well now all the same. I have had many Australian Chardonnay's (I disclose I am Australian) and this is consistently the best in the land in my opinion. Fantastic.

Superb chardonnay. The bouquet erupts from the glass - nectarine, cashew and figs. Absolutely gorgeous buttery mouthfeel with refreshing acidity on the back palate, and a long finish. The only fault in this wine is a somewhat abrupt transition in the palate from rich creamy butteriness to fruity acidity, but I suspect this will change with a few more years in bottle. Can't wait to see how my remaining bottles develop over the next 6 years.

Pineaple shares it's spot with subtle oak on the nose. Very elegant chardonnay, a little more acid backbone would of help to complete the picture. Quite short in length but non-the less a great wine.
