April 6, 2024 - Vanilla, nougat, some spice that feels very familiar but that I can't pick. Mostly tertiary but there's still some fruit. Struggling to write descriptors but I've really enjoyed this, though I think most people would prefer it younger.

    March 26, 2022 - Another cracker!!

Citrus, tropical and lovely butterscotch notes. Great length too. An all round beaut!

March 13, 2022 - Needed 45 mins in the decanter to blow off some mustiness. All seondary and terirarty notes now, nougat, cream cheese and cashew. Long, full and flavoursome. Enjoyed this.

February 4, 2021 - NobleRottersSydney - Yarra v Margaret (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} [Graeme] A somewhat higher level (less ullage) than the slightly disappointing bottle last July. Still barely darker than mid-yellow. Smells fairly aged, with toasty, browning aromas, but with all kinds of dimensions to them. Developed melon and butter flavours, spice, sandalwood, with a laser-even palate and a long savoury finish. Oak is evident but the wine’s not woody at all. Medium weight, medium acid. Really good. A tribute to the no-malo approach of the Mount Mary team. On this showing, will hold, if you win the cork lottery.

July 8, 2020 - NobleRottersSydney - Mount Mary (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} Slightly lower level than the 2000 (I was a touch trepidatious) although a lighter colour. No sign of leakage so maybe it was just the fill. Advanced nose, buttery, with aged oak characters. Palate was similar, with nuts, and a little bit of sherry-like oxidative flavour. Savoury and grainy; not much fruit but all texture and tertiary flavours. Still has fresh medium acidity and an even, if low key palate. Nice wine, but seems to miss the mark just a little, and the short/medium finish confirms.
