Beautiful as secondary flavors are taking over. Dry autumn leaves carried by chestnuts and currants waifs from the glass. Bright and pretty on the palate, ripe cranberries give way to medium-bodied wine of earth, wild mushrooms, and forest floor. Paired perfectly with bouef d'Bourgogne.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of berries, raspberries and light notes of cherries. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cranberries. Medium to tart acidity, medium tannin, medium body. Drink or hold. I'm leaning toward drinking now.

Fruit, a little more graham cracker in this one, earthiness. What we expect from Carriere. Was def not the best OP vintage, nice to see they can do well with a year like this (2011 should be similar, very cool summers)

popped and poured. a little rough so decanted. this had typical oregon fruit, but was a little light on the palate fruitwise and plenty of structure leaving it a little on the tart side. i expect that htis will progress ok, but was a little disappointed.

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 90 minutes.
Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose of birch, thatch and black berries. Also a bit of dustiness. Flavors of berries and tart cherries. Medium to tart acidity, medium tannins, light to medium body. Drink or hold. I'd drink over the next few years.

This bottle had entered some kind of dumb phase. Also tad bitter. Added 2 points because it was tasted with some very nice wines and i want to be fair because this is an amazing wine company. Three more, will try another next year.

Winery visit- 9/8. Mulled spice, tart red fruit, and mushroom aromas. Very light palate with mineral, cola, cherry, and pepper notes. Soft structure- medium finish.

Nose of earth, cherry, and smoke. Nicely balanced. Tart cherry on the palate, with some smoke in the background. There's plenty of acid and tannin to balance the fruit. Long finish with earthy notes and some warming from the alcohol. It's pretty good right now, but it's a bit tight still. I'd say let it lay down for at least another half a year, but a year or two would probably be better.

Medium ruby color. Very pretty, focused nose of rosewater, earth and cranberries, with rose dominant. Light to medium bodied on the palate with good presence and length. Very nice Pinot in a more reserved style. 90+

E&R's Pinot Noir-egon Weekend; 4/24/2010-4/25/2010 (Portland, OR): Smells like a fire; dirty and funky though. More burning small twigs on the palate, with light fruit, pleasing acid and tannic balance. Big tannins on the finish, quite tart, and more of the fire pit burning on a sand beach.

Not very impressed. It's still fairly austere. Specially in the palate. I'd expect a bit more suppleness, roundness.

Austere and one dimensional. A bit rustic for it's price range. Hopefully the next bottle will show better.

Good OR Pinot - much better than anything from CA in this price range. Earthy and complex - great with food.
