My first bottle of the 2011 Novicium, purchased on release from the winery. It is more fleshy than the 2010, but delivers plenty of minerality. Lovely, balanced cab from mountain top Napa fruit.

The bottle, and my palate, seem to be back in business compared to the last two attempts. After disappointing results that probably had much more to do with my palate and a misstep with the Coravin, this bottle is singing. Fruit is full of plum, cassis, menthol, chocolate covered cherries. Medium finish with sweet, silky tannins.

Dark purple plum colour. Black currant, cocoa and violets on the nose. Full-bodied, moderate tannins. Tastes of current, chocolate and cherries on the finish. Could wait a bit longer, but very enjoyable now.

Opened bottle that had been Coravined almost 2 months previous. First time I have given some thought to whether a CV'ed wine might be at risk for some oxidation. But if I recall, I may not have properly cleared the system with a burst if gas as I was still getting the hang of using it.
With a little time, the oxidation risk seemed to be less noted. Certainly showing plum, cassis, cedar but somehow seems a biter green vegetal as well. Maybe little dumb phase, or oxidation, or to some degree a flaw of the vintage in general. Will be interesting to compare a non-CV'ed bottle in 4-6 months.

Via Coravin. Tasted head-to-head against the 2011 Dalla Valle Collina. Nicely balanced and relatively soft tannins given its lack of age. Plum, anise, cedar, menthol. This had the slight edge over the Collina.

Certainly a year or so early but I wanted to see how it stacked up against the 2010. It is another great one from Continuum. This is basically their drinking stock and it's surely good enough for me!!

Not rating this as I am two days removed from the flu and I know my palate isn't quite all the way back.
Plum, but also still getting green vegetal flavors. Maybe my flu palate, maybe the mediocre vintage, maybe in an awkward phase. Not sure

Rich sweet berry and currants with finely integrated tannins and smooth finish. Still has some baby fat on it and will integrated and get much better
