When I want a good, substantive mid-week one Cotes du Rhone's are my go to wine - and this wine delivered. Savory nose with red fruits, stone & garrigue. On palate, medium body, medium acidity, medium tannins and medium+ finish. Rasbperry, tart cherry & wet stone on palate. Very nice. 91+ This has aged extremely well.

Continues to drink very well and was better with air. PNP. Medium red color with a clear meniscus. On nose, savory profile with tart cherry, black cherry and touch of earthiness. Medium body with great balance (fruit / acid / tannins) and a long finish. 91++

Deep blood red at the core. The color, to the extent you bother to spend time with it is a distraction. What captures attention immediately is the bouquet of tobo, iodine, mineral, smoked meat, and rich, black fruit. It’s all so intense! Each and every aspect of the bouquet appears in the palate with distinctness and intensity. Something about “sweet iodine” is compelling. Brined black olives from the mid-palate to the almost finish are intense. A spot of coffee comes across the finish. Damn fine wine. Surprisingly not a grain of sediment. 14.5% alc. With mushroom, onion, pepperoni pizza. Recommended leaning to Highly Recommended.

Dry, spicy and tight - drank after 15 minutes in the glass; Tight bodied, long in the mouth, high tannin with prolonged chalkiness. Classical bouquet of spice, dry brush and grasses, and dried red fruit.

V. dark; cherries & redcurrants, lifted; marked acidity, tart, forced; attenuated, harsh. The next day this had rounded out to a degree & fleshier but retained an unpleasant finish.

Huge difference from the last bottle I tried; very "green" on the nose and palate. Its like the black cherries have taken a backseat to the green provencal herbs which at times is a little distracting. Tannins have subsided and is good to drink after a short decant.

Drinking very well right now. This not only improved with time out of the bottle, but was equally enjoyable on the 2nd and later nights. Agree with the other reviewers that this is excellent QPR and reminds me of CdP without the cost. This should continue to age well, but doesn't need to be stored still longer to be enjoyed.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like red currant and raspberry. It tastes like raspberry, black currant (cassis) and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Dark-medium purple in colour; nose of black cherries, anise, black peppers, lavenders, and some green herbs. The palate is tannic up front composed of black cherries, green herbs, peppers, and some black berries; has a very nice finish to accompany it. I'd drink the normal CdR first while I let this one age for a little bit.

Dark ruby color. Nose: blackberry, black plum, and black cherry with accents of clove, root beer bark, star anise, lavender, sage, vanilla, and mushroom. Medium body on the palate: black plum, blackberry, and black cherry framed by clove, sage, bay leaf, crushed rock, vanilla, and black peppercorn. Medium+ acidity. Moderate/firm tannins. Lingering plum/blackberry skin, bay leaf, sage, crushed rock, and black peppercorn on the long finish. Structured and savory with a juicy core of dark fruit. Pair with herb-crusted lamb chops. Cellar for 2 years and drink over the following 4-5 years.

Cannot remember to have tried a better CdeR wine. Totally w/o any acidic raspberries. Can definitely see a potential for it. Compared to the base level CdR wine from Cosme it is worth using a few bucks more for the Albion.

Very important to give this wine time to warm up. My initial note when drinking this wine right out of our wine fridge was, "Too dominated by Syrah. Simple and peppery with a short and disjointed finish." Once warmed and decanted, it tastes like a completely different wine. Classic CdP flavor profile at half the cost.

extremely stemmy initially.. there's some hints of violets.. it's pretty austere right now with some acid/tannin out of funk.. I decided to open this rather than my 2010 albion hoping It would be more approachable since I've heard 2011's will be enjoyable younger.. umm maybe not this one.. I'd wait sometime to open..

Decanted for 30 minutes and served around cellar temperature. On nose, cherry, baking spice, stemmy, and garrigue. On palate, medium body, bright cherry fruit, raspberry, & sweet cherry on medium+ to long finish. High acidity makes the wine food friendly and very clean. A little rustic and old school. One of the best CDRs that I have had. Will buy more. 91+ Thanks to David Metz for this!

This is a cotes du rhone strutting its stuff. Meaty, ripe fruit coated in smoke and earth and seasoned with pepper. Drank this a day after the regular Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone and definitely tasted the additional density of this wine. A very enjoyable experience and I can't wait to see what this wine has to say over the next few years.

In much the same vein as the 2010. Some rough edges, but really delicious grenache. Not over done in the least. Not an elegant wine, but really what I'm looking for in a southern Rhone: good fruit, some earth, decent acidity, moderate tannins. I rarely find this pleasure in wines that cost much more. Well done.
