Popped and poured at cellar temp. Deep orange gold color. Nose is still quite reserved, with some hints of caramel, orange marmalade and limestone. Lovely sweet citrus fruit with a hint of caramel on the attack but incredible robust acidity on the finish keeps it from being cloying. Opened to have with chicken tikki masala - I think it will be a great pairing. Despite the advanced color, this wine still drinks like a youngster at 25 with many good years ahead of it.

Deep golden with orange amber hue. The cork of this bottle was not as soaked (approx. 70%) as the cork from previous bottles, though all bottles have been stored under textbook conditions. This remains a bit shy and delivers medium intensity with scents of honey and peaches. On the palate in addition caramel, hints of orangepeel and campher. Tannic, medium intense finish. Only medium sweet, not ideal to go with a dessert, but with deer e. g. The 98 points (drinking window -2020) given by Stephan Reinhardt from the WA, are not comprehensible for me. 5/12/17/9, -2025 or maybe longer if the bottles are recorked.

Orange tinted yellow. If one reads the community notes, it becomes obvious that there are some problems, as a lot of corked bottles for example, with this wine in this vintage. This bottle was stored under perfect conditions since release. First the nose is not only tight, but nearly non existent. With air in a bordeaux glass and nearly at roomtemperature it gives some notes of apricot, peach, caramel and beeswax. On the palate it is much better and shows more intensity. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by refreshing acidity. However a fungus like note is present on the nose and I'm not quite sure if it is has some TCA or this note belongs to the wine, because on the palate it is less obvious. Overall it is a confusing experience again, but much better than a previous bottle. 5/10/16/8 -2040+ if optimal stored and maybe recorked. TWA gave it 91 points and complaint that another bottle was corked.
P.S. A decant took away great parts of the fruit and makes the TCA contamination obvious. Nevertheless it was low enough to imagine what the wine could have been without it. Very good, but not more.
In such a lovely place right now. Opened this for my sister, who is 21 and was born in 97, and she loved it. As did I! Pretty apricot color. Lovely nose of orange marmalade, honey, sea salt, candle wax, clover. Plump, yes it's sweet but the acidity is crisp and keeps it focused. This wine is all about richness, texture and balance. Apricot, candied orange peel, mixed with spiced apple, honey (lots of it) and graham crackers. Rich but nuanced and complex, this seems like it has so many years still ahead.

2017s From Domaine Huet (Armit Wines): Well this is barely getting going even at 21 years of age. It has a really fresh and pure mineral palate with a delicacy and light touch that surprises for a wine of this richness (note richness, not sweetness is the key here). Insane length, years of life ahead.

A Thursday night at Rich's (Chez Nanda): Nose: The nose is refined and aromatic with honey, lanolin, spiced pears, red apples, minerals, peach tones, and white florals. There is excellent depth and while it shows the residual sugar, it is far from cloying.
Taste: Full bodied with high acidity. The acidity provides a nice spine and is refreshing. There is excellent density, depth, and class with honey, lanolin, red apples, minerals, and peach tones.
Overall: This is fantastic. It is drinking extremely well right now, but there feels like there is much more to give.

Maison Kayser - The Brad Kane Experience; 6/2/2015-6/6/2015: color always scares me in the 97s. dark orange with a hint of gold. but as soon as one smells the wine - the fear dissipates - no sign of oxidation. papaya, sweet ripe orchard fruit. bit of dry apricots, nice acidity even for such a ripe and rich mid. finish is good but perhaps is the weak point right now.

Somewhat advanced. Golden honey/amber color. Nose has mild to medium honey, botrytis, and tart fruit. Palate is rich and sweet, with plenty of concentrated honey and apricots. Not too thick on the palate texturally, but just downright delicious.

Opened by Allred with dessert of a chocolate acorn cake with pistachio ice cream. This wine reminded me how much I like Huet and the fact it has been too long since I've had one (6 years ago). Wine Spectator rates the 1997 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Le Mont an impressive 95 points. I rate this wine 92 points, which directly aligns with the current CellarTracker community rating. This is my first exposure to a Vouvray wine and one of the most mature/aged wines I have experienced. This bottle was quite the treat. Echoing the observations of previous CT reviewers, this wine has a deep golden color and a healthy sweetness. Diverging a bit from most reviews, I feel the body is medium weight, as opposed to light. There is a notable viscosity on the palate, with flavors of honeysuckle, apricot, and sweet iced tea with lemon. No real tannins here, but there is a bit of light acidity. Given the age of the wine, I feared it may be beyond its prime, but that is hardly the case. I have seen this wine at auction, but it is still available at random brick & mortar locations for approximately $100. I know...that is pretty steep for a chenin blanc, but this is not your California grocery store chenin, it is a Vouvray. I am writing this review from several months in retrospect and I have already purchased another bottle of the 1997 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Le Mont to repeat the experience. Bravo! -------------------------
Rating Scale: Extraordinary (95-100 points); Outstanding (90-94); Very Good to Excellent (85-89); Good (80-84); Average (75-79); Below average (70-74); Avoid (50-69)

Bouchon : entamé à la moitié Robe : vieil or, brillante, de fines larmes Nez : relativement absent au départ, il faut attendre une heure avant qu'apparaisse, la fleur d’acacia, le miel, la fleur de sureau... Dreamtasting #5 (Restaurant Merlet, Schoorl): (Blinded) Lots of evolution, soft and sweet, mediumbodied, citrus zest, copper polish, wet wool, nuts, resin and honey. Hint of oxidation. Quite nice. Rich with strong fruit aromas and flavors, yet still carrying a firm acid spine. Pears and apricots every where, yet held in check by the strong minerality. Despite the sweetness, this wine was eminently drinkable and disappeared in near record time. Perhaps not the most ageable wine, yet this will still likely hold over time. Another great bottle from Huet.

Dark gold color in the glass Flowery honeysuckle nose, with a vague fruity note, apricot and caramel. Flavors of honey, apricot and lychee on the medium finish. Also a trace of botrytis; very light on the tongue; beautiful balance. The finish is long, but very clean; rich and sweet, but not too much like a Sauternes, it is all in balance. nose: delicious and savory nose with excellent tones of caramel apples, white fruits, pears and some honey tones. Very good depth with very good balance as well
taste: fuller bodied with medium+ acidity. Balanced and deep with succulent tones of caramel, red apples, pears and honey tones
overall: this can go a real long way. Delicious right now but still showing off some noticeable acidity as well. This certainly has the structure to age a good while and it needed some air before it really showed itself

Slightly clouded gold with a faint pink tinge. Very flowery honey nose, with a vague fruity note that was hard to place. The finish is long, but very clean; rich and sweet, but not too much like a Sauternes, it is all in balance. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Fairly clean and crisp on the palate.
A great wine that will live a long time.

UWS 2011-01 (@ JB): Ripe and soft yellow fruits on the nose. Mature and even a bit oxidized on the palate. Almonds, pleasant softness, sweetness and acidity. No score.

nose: delicious and savory nose with excellent tones of caramel apples, white fruits, pears and some honey tones.

Bought this by accident, but was pleasantly surprised and pleased with how it turned out. Not sickly sweet, but perfect with cheesecake desert. Am now glad I have 2 more - especially when KC pours it in a red wine balloon glass.

Musigny and More: Golden coloured. Honey, nutty and brown sugar on the nose. Palate displays superb length. It is rich and sweet but it is all in balance. A great wine that will live a long time, if it develops some more complexity it will be stunning.

Slightly honeyed nose. Huge mouthful of flowers and apricot preserves with some zippy acidity on the finish. This is very light on its feet, ye huge in flavor. Yum.

Slightly clouded gold with a faint pink tinge. Very flowery honey nose, with a vague fruity note that was hard to place. The palate has strawberries, apricots and just a trace of botrytis, very light on the tongue, beauyiful balance. The finish is long, but very clean, the acidity almost feeling like a cool rinse as it goes down.
A much better wine than last week's '89.

I haven't touched mine yet, but, folks, these wines are immortal. No rush. The 1989s still aren't really ready. The 1971 demi-sec was showing young late last year.

Opened and served immediately. Dark yellow to gold color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of honeysuckle, apricot and caramel. Flavors of honey, apricot and lychee on the medium finish. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Fairly clean and crisp on the palate. Drink now through let's say the medium term.
