Tuesday, March 19, 2024 - Subsequent notes on this wine from 6 years ago. Dark reddish-purple garnet, essentially opaque in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of dark fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, spices, herbs, dark cocoa, coffee, tar, minerals & hints of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied, with very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush, ripe dark fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with earthy, dark cocoa, spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 14 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development. Although it may hold here for several more years, I doubt any further development would occur.
