Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - Really a surprisingly good wine enjoyed earlier today with Kim at Ruth's Chris steakhouse in the Charlotte Southpark area for the Charlotte Restaurant Week - a gutsy, spicy and very good merlot / cab franc / petit verdot Washington blend from Walla Walla ordered tonight in anticipation of the CT Walla Walla wine gathering in September of this year. Inky black, fine sediment, big wine with well balanced components and a long lingering aftertaste. Nose spicy and fruity with black currants and blackberrys, primary flavor profile of white developing into black pepper, dark stone fruit, red cherry and allspice.
