4/27/2024 - MattMauldin Likes this wine: 93 pointsTwo-hour decant. Full dark-garnet core with ruby edges and bright tones. Bright, dark fruit aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, and hints of blueberry, with cracked peppercorn, fresh rosemary & violet, brown mushroom, tea and hints of clove. Black fruit, fresh and ripe, expressive on the attack, with notes of iron, loamy earth, eastern spices, paprika and tea. Medium in weight and refined structure over a dense core, with fresh but light-handed acidity, moving toward thick creamy tannins, finishing with zesty black fruit and violet length. |

4/26/2024 - SMHalps Likes this wine: 94 pointsMy first Cayuse Tempranillo. Purchased at auction, but most likely very well stored. Shared this with my wine group and it was the WOTN. Opened but not decanted for over an hour before serving. On the nose, a definite funk (as others have mentioned), it reminded me of many Chateneuf de Papas that I have had. But it tasted very different than its nose. Complex, with notes of spices and a long finish on the palate. I may be shorting this a point. It was my first Cayuse Tempranillo. |

4/25/2024 - deadwax Likes this wine: 93 pointsTasted blind with weekly tasting group, grenache theme. Double decanted to take to venue for tasting. Gave it 3 hours of decant. The initial funk on the nose had mostly blown off by the time we got to this bottle. Bright red fruits on the pallet, medium tannins for a young wine. Some estimated this to be older than it was. Will be better with cellar time. |

4/24/2024 - Ex-Ray Likes this wine: 98 pointsFourth time tasting this vintage since Nov. 2020. Third time tasting this vintage since Nov. 2020. Color is still garnet and opaque but no hints of amber edge. The aroma is complex and powerful, of black cherries, blackberries, plums, subtle toasted oak. Slight herbal component but has only a subtle roasted meat component typical of other Cayuse syrahs. A hint of bacon fat also. On the palate the fruit is explosive, round, rich, and complex, not a hint of tannin. The aftertaste is extremely long and balanced, no excessive heat. Very reminiscent of Guigal's "La-La's". Three more bottles, will probably have one every six months or so. |

4/19/2024 - Cow Town Likes this wine: 95 pointsThe last review, from 2021, said it could use more time. I agree, but in 2024, even if it could use more time, it is exceptional. Best Cayuse I have had in years. Funk level was low, fruit was dark and present, but everything was in balance - tasted like a well-aged northern Rhône. I have a love-hate relationship with Cayuse, but this was squarely in the love box. |

4/15/2024 - Clark W Griswold Likes this wine: 95 pointsPnp for my wifes Birthday. This is the usual cayuse combination of ripe fruit and delicious umami notes. Could list them all off but you know what you're getting into. The cork was perfect. Seemed very young and vibrant still. Ever so slight bitter note on the finish. I'm thinking another 10 years to go or more. These are such timeless wines. Bought two bottles each of 13 and 14 off of an acquaintance for the allocation list price a few years back. Sadly this was my last bottle of the 13s. |
