  • Pretty good on pop and pour, but this needed ninety minutes of air to show more. It felt like a trip in Mr. Peabody’s Wayback Machine, as the aromas and flavors were more in an early 1990s mode than the modern, climate-affected tropical fruit salad. Laura and I both tried it, and came to the same conclusion of freshly cut, ripe, crisp apple. It’s been years since I tasted a Riesling from the heat-trap of Bernkastel with this level precision and focus. The only area where it fell a little short was overall depth. There wasn’t a lot of palate presence. That could come with time, but right now it’s a refreshing blast from the past.
