  Bitter cherry pit nose, all red fruits, and gulpable intensity from the very first sip, a very fine silky sappy mid palate followed by a monster structure, sneaky power from a clay inflected site, but still in a weightless package, magical Conterno. The tannins are very present and a tad dry.
  
  Day 2: Beautiful persistence and depth develop further, less dryness.
  Love the 2016 with its combination of power and lift. In 2030 this is going to be a kknock out.
  
  On day 3:Now the nose is pure summer wild strawberry and some spices appear, the mouth is rich and silky, rounder than the day before, the tannins are finer. I like the depth. Cellar or decant 24 hours.

  2016, Barolo Cerretta, Giacomo Conterno, Monforte d’Alba, Piemont, Italien (100% Nebbiolo von Lehm-, Eisen-, Phosphor- und Kalkböden. Östliche Ausrichtung auf 400 M.ü.M. 25 Tage Mazeration bei 32°, Ausbau während 48 Monaten in grossen Holzfässern aus slawonischer Eiche. 15% Alkohol, 5.8g/l Säure, 31g/l Trockenextrakt). Unglaublich expressiv, der Duft springt förmlich aus dem Glas, super floral, mit Kräutern, Veilchen, Tee, für mich eine absolute Nasendroge, ein Wein zum Eintauchen, zum Meditieren, zum Niederknien. Im Gaumen seidenweich, das ist eine Delikatesse, sondergleichen, ungemein präzis, verspielt, rotfruchtig und top strukturiert, die Tannine sind von höchster Güte, die wohl dosierte Säure belebt, dieser Wein hat ungemein viel Finesse und Präzision, eine Erhabenheit, die seinesgleichen sucht. Zeigt im Abgang eine ausgezeichnete Länge und viel Balance. Das ist grosses Barolo-Kino. Leider nicht günstig und auch nicht einfach zu erhalten, doch für mich jeden Cent wert. 2024-2048+, 96/100 vvPunkte. vvWine.ch

  Barolo Boys Cru Special – Cerretta (Zoom!): Vines are in Cerretta Piani, so the soil has more clay than wines #1-3, and the vines have a NW aspect. 48mos big botte.
  
  Sharp, red fruited nose, lifted, floral and balsamic, then showing blackcurrant leaf. A creamy texture, with subtle intensity. Doesn't shout but has lots of presence. The tannins cover all surfaces of the mouth but are so silky - it's a strong wine, built to age, but debonair too. Really long finish. 15% alcohol but far from hot. Tightens with air. Not a waste to drink at this stage, but will surely give even greater pleasure in 20 years' time.
