  PnP. Maybe should have waited. Extremely tight out of the bottle. Hot nose. Lots of pepper (green and black) that tickles the nose and some subdued earthy notes. Thick and jammy. Blackberries and black cherries. Peppers come out with a moderately spicy finish. Some lingering spicy afterwards that is ok but not particularly pleasant. Needs food to be a little less overbearing. Would be good with beef and with some heavier sauces.

  As Richard Jennings observes, 83% Zinfandel, 17% Petite Sirah. These are very old vines - average age 90 years, the oldest 120, per the back label.
  
  This will be very good wine, but it is frankly in its inafancy. Dark, deep, structures but still rather closed.
  
  88 for now, no doubt 90 in the 5 years it needs.

  Man, nice wine. Better than I remember at the winery. Very sophisticated zinfandel. Wish I had more. Should age really well.
