Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 90.1 points

  • Decanted showing moderate sediment.
The nose is moderate in intensity and robed in oak nuances showing of vanilla crème, baking spice, pencil shavings and cigar box notes with cassis, blackberry and black plum with herb, mocha and earth qualities.
The palate is smooth with warmth from the above moderate alcohol. The acidity and tannins are both med-plus. While the tannins are ripe and fine, I expected a little more from Red Mountain. The flavors mimic the nose showing off the dominate oak influences in front of the berry, earth, herb and cocoa notes. The finish is moderate and smooth. Overall a good wine for those that like oak, if a little over-priced. Drink Now

  • Decanted and drank over 2 hrs. Pretty underwhelming for a $50-$60 bottle. 2011 was known to be an off year.. Obviously a very well made Wine but was flat and boring. Perhaps expectations were too high. Zachary’s ladder is the “go to” Gorman wine.

  • Restrained smokey cedar on nose
Soft and dense, opening with black fruit and meshing with robust tannins

    Still needs time to develop

  • This is definitely not the best example of Gorman’s Bully. The 2010 was much better. This wine, to me, seems unbalanced. There is an earthiness to this wine that I cannot usually find in many other Washington State wines. There is a heavy use of oak in this example and it masks a lot of the fruit. The fruits are dark fruits, which can be found after a short while in the glass. If you have some of this wine, I would recommend holding onto it for another couple of years (at least) to let it integrate.

  • Big wine and it needs time to unwind. Ample fruit and considerable substance. Let it rest for another year or two. 90-91.
