  • Disgorged 2013. Reduced but still existent fizz. Deep yellow colour and yeasty nose. Lovely mature flavours on the palate - perhaps a little faded. Good but maybe don’t leave much longer

  • One of the vintage bottles of Drappier I purchased by auction as a bargain two years ago, bottle disgorged in march 2014, golden matured colour, lively bubbles, first on the nose tertiary aromas, aerated pumpernickel bread, very nutty, dried yellow fruit such as apricot and cest of oranges, starting with a very fresh mouthfeel, somehow unbalanced, but two hours after opening complex, still vivacious with mineralic hints and honey cake, firm midpalate, ending quite long, elegant and tasty, I think this champagne will not improve by cellaring but will keep this condition for the next five years, ***(+), 89-91

  • Domaine vs Negotiant champagne tasting with a couple of ringers: (Disgorged in July 2012) Sadly last bottle out of six.
Strawberry field, burnt sugar and lots of juicy red fruits. Zippy, full bodied and mature with somewhat sweet PN typical palate. Excellent showing from this weak vintage.

  • Tasted blind.

Deep golden yellow-colored core that turns to limpid lemon towards the rim. Obviously very mature, even somewhat tertiary nose suggesting age. Rich, complex aromas of toasty autolysis, pronounced nutty tones, some oxidative character, a little bit of crème à la vanille, a hint of smoke and a touch of roasted almonds and honey. Lovely and attractive. The wine is crisp, dry and mineral on the palate with rich, complex flavors of dried yellow fruits, quite pronounced, developed nutty tones, some rich brioche autolysis, a little bit of chalky minerality, a hint of lemon marmalade and a touch of saline tang. Racy acidity with very fine, gentle and medium-long mousse. The finish is long, crisp and mineral with high acidity and developed flavors of roasted walnuts, honey, lemony citrus fruits, some wizened apple tones and a little bit of baked apple, an autolytic hint of toasted bread and a touch of butter or crème à la vanille.

A beautiful, wonderfully developed and still remarkably vibrant Champagne that - against all odds - shows remarkable power, complexity and no signs of giving up at this age. This bottling performed even better than last time a year ago (Sep 13th, 2014). Most likely this wine is - and has been - on its plateau of maturity for some time, so no additional aging is necessary, but most likely the wine will keep well for some years more. Terrific stuff, worth the 79,90€.

  • (Disgorged in July 2012) Well, it is getting more and more mature as the time goes by. Lots of ripe apples and winter apples. Long finish of grapefruits. Deep, concentrated taste, a pronounced PN character, could have had more complexity. I think it is on the peak now.
