Drunk with steak and ale pie and potato puree. Mid garnet with slight browning at the rim. Stewed black fruits - plums and blackberries, with some earthiness underlying it. Firm, smooth tannin elements. Very good balance and length. This is the best bottle of this wine I have had so far, so I think the extra cellar time has paid off and that it should keep going for some time yet.

The cork had deteriorated, crumbling against the screw, and my heart fell. But it turned out to be no bad omen. Right out of the bottle, after the cork was drawn, it was lip-puckering dry and flat. (No surprise there.) Only 15 minutes later and the tannins, while still present, became very soft. There was a strawberry-like flavor that caressed the pallet: if that sounds overly romantic, think somewhat glycerine (like you might find in an Argentine Cabernet, but not so pronounced) and smooth, with a delicate fruitiness that you might find in a French not-too-sugary bonbon. In fact, this tasted similar to many of the French burgundies I've had, if I can trust my memory. (It's been a while.)

Concentrated structure, but lacking some of the nuances I was looking for. A solid wine, but nothing overly noteworthy.

Nothing special here. Little dark fruits and a little earthiness
