Inky garnet, opaque, looks vibrant. Doesn’t look like an almost 20-year old wine. Big nose of blackcurrants, clove, anise, and graphite. A touch of mocha. Full-bodied palate of dark fruits and some preserves. Ultra velvety tannins. This has no signs of slowing down.

Day 1: Splash decanted and then poured back into the bottle. Seemed like pouring 10w30. Very dark opaque purple/black. Blueberries, dark fruits galore. Some oak and just a touch of eucalyptus. Yes, it’s hot, but it’s an Aussie Shiraz. Medium- to full-bodied with a hint of acidity on a decent finish.
Day 2: Same dark purple/black but looked a bit more relaxed going into the glass. The nose seemed more focus with deeper dark fruit notes, brooding, less heat. Velvety on the palate, tannins more integrated. Very long finish.
This wine is not showing any signs of slowing down. I’d probably give it 90-91 on day 1 and probably 92-93 on day 2. I’ll give it a 92, overall.

Decided to double decant. Almost purplish black in color. Some lightening around the edges. Blackberries, blueberries, kirsch, shiitakes, and same bacon fat. Lots of dark fruits throughout. Fleshy and mouth coating, but with still being medium-bodied. Sweet tannins that have integrated, ending with a decent finish. This may have a few years yet but no need to wait, IMO.
