Massive wine from a bizarrely hot vintage. The color is starting to show brick/orange on the rim and still a dense garnet in the center. After a half hour of air, there are copious pronounced aromas of dense smoke, wood, wet earth, aged balsamic vinegar, roasted cherry and red currant with hints of clove and ground allspice. The palate shows an upfront whack of raisin, cried cherries, dried cranberries, red currant, paprika?, and cherry pie filling, which echoes on the long finish. Still has good ripe tannins and great acidity.

A bit closed at first, with very little in the way of bouquet; with lots of air, begins to show aromas and flavors of butterscotch, cream, butter, white fleshy fruits as well as tropical fruit notes. The finishes is of cream and over-ripe pear with baking spices. Very long and well balanced. Still has some life left!

Very deep purple color with a narrow brick rim fading to clear. Aromas of dusty blackberry and graphite with hints of powdered spice lead into a soft, elegant palate, silky smooth with mild, slightly herbaceous tannins and a long gravelly finish. Excellent to drink over the next few years.
