A little gamey. There was some bright fruit right off the bat but it went away quickly and the rest, was, well, just ok. Maybe not a wine for ageing and 5 years is too long? I get that Chile is trying reeeaaaly hard to find their own "signature grape" like rivals "Argentinamalbecwine" but somehow I don't think that this is the answer....(at least not this wine).

8/14/2013 8:20:00 AM - UpfromtheCellar, I enjoy reading your notes and also agree with many of the observations you make regarding wine and wine regions on your profile page. I drink a lot of wine from WA because it is available in abundance here but I prefer the wines of France and Italy, and the occasional Spanish wine not made in the "International Style" you refer to above. Anyway, it's a pleasure to read the tasting notes of those with similiar preferences and perspectives.
zum Wohl!

Saving this until 2024 paid off. The "grapey-ness" of the last bottle I opened (2021) has matured out and its become a silky earthy cherry delight.

Solid, midweight country/rustic wine. This was a nice version that wasn't over the top, but lacked complexity.
