Real name: Eric LeVine
Locale: Seattle, Washington, USA
Favorite region: Bordeaux and Southern Rhône
Dream wine: 1982 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
I created CellarTracker as a hobby back in 2003, and now it has taken over my life. You can read my complete bio here and check out a picture of my cellar. I am quite easy to reach at eric@cellartracker.com.
4/23/2024 8:45:00 AM - Experience of a lifetime to be able to share that trip with him!
4/23/2024 5:03:00 AM - Incredible experience with your son in Avignon.
3/3/2024 6:46:00 AM - 1982 Pichon Lalande is my favorite wine, nearly always perfect. Just the ideal Bordeaux.
3/3/2024 4:55:00 AM - Would love to know how you would rank your top 5 100 point wines. Is 82 Lalande in your top 5 all time?
12/23/2023 11:15:00 AM - Excellent, thanks!
12/23/2023 11:11:00 AM - Eric: Couldn't find a way to post this to the forum. Ever thought about adding a feature that recommends an alternative wine at a similar or better price point? I was just reading the reviews for Veuve, and several reviewers say it's just average for the price. Would have been nice to see some alternatives. Perhaps we have to wait for an AI feature first? Thanks for the consideration.
12/8/2021 9:27:00 PM - Many thanks Vinomazing!
12/8/2021 8:28:00 PM - Happy Holidays, wishing you and yours joy and good health into the New Year!!
12/7/2021 3:01:00 PM - Hi Diane, it was lovely to meet you and celebrate Siggy's 50th!
12/7/2021 2:16:00 PM - Eric, marvelous to finally meet you in person at Siggy's 50th. Thanks for all you do for the wine community!
1/20/2021 4:22:00 PM - Tom, as shown at https://www.cellartracker.com/contact.asp send email to editors@cellartracker.com with corrections
1/20/2021 4:03:00 PM - Thanks for writing such a handy tool, and for engaging with users here! What is the best practice here for addressing a data inaccuracy at the producer level? All of "Cordoníu" ( https://www.cellartracker.com/producer.asp?iProducer=134236 ) is a typo for Codorníu ( https://www.cellartracker.com/producer.asp?iProducer=5094 ) - some wines exist under both spellings, but some (e.g. https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1965036 ) are only under the mis-spelled producer
3/29/2020 1:13:00 PM - Distillers here in Washington State are making hand sanitizer as well. :-(
3/29/2020 1:12:00 PM - About wine: Pew ! What a beautiful model wine cellar ! https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO5MR7QOMC__-4jc-MFBkXJidUmouAeroHGII7Epz4ffrnIunuWOGXGvDn68_XZ3Q?key=VHRiS0dJTkxCanRqU0tLdFBuQzBzTDcxUExyVTB3
3/29/2020 1:10:00 PM - Yes, thank you, the same for you. A more or less 'funny' fact is, that a big Dutch beer brewer (Bavaria) started collecting unused beer stocks with the closed down horeca (bars etc.) in the NL to make alcohol for disinfectant from it.
3/29/2020 12:53:00 PM - Homer, thank you for the kind message during these crazy times. Stay safe and healthy!
3/29/2020 12:49:00 PM - Keep up the good work in difficult COVID-19 times.
3/7/2020 3:40:00 PM - stevemar, thanks so much, so glad you are enjoying CellarTracker!
3/7/2020 3:24:00 PM - Loving Cellar Tracker, thank you for this tool. It has become essential not only for tracking of purchases and inventory but expanding my horizons and wine education as I get deeper into this hobby.
10/3/2019 2:43:00 PM - Cheers Vinomazing, so glad you are enjoying CellarTracker!
10/3/2019 12:26:00 PM - Dear Eric, thank you for creating and managing CT...Very Best, VM
3/5/2017 9:28:00 PM - Mmm, Deiss, that was a long time ago...
3/5/2017 9:24:00 PM - Alsatian Riesling: "Microwave Barbie Doll?" Hilarious... (relay courtesy of Gary R). Thanks for that!
12/31/2015 12:55:00 PM - bonz, I sent you an email. There is no record of payment in over on year. Please read your email and reply to that.
12/31/2015 10:03:00 AM - bonz, cellar tracker name, member since 1976. Paid and billed $80 9-15-15, getting billed $80 again now, payment history shows payment due 12-2015 looking at payment history,Love site HELP.
12/9/2015 9:05:00 PM - Eric-- Great website. Thanks so much for bringing it to us winos. One gripe-- as the creator, you should have all the features accessible so that we simple pee-ons can see all the features at work. For example, I want to see what wines I have in common with you, but you have that feature blocked. That'd be like Mark Zuckerberg blocking basic features on Facebook...not cool.
11/10/2015 7:51:00 PM - Hi Eric, just wanted to let you know that I made a video on what I call "The Drinking Tempo Forecast" which is a simple controlling device somewhat related to the drinkability report which I realized in Excel based on cellar data exported from Cellar Tracker. The Drinking Tempo Forecast gives a nice preview of how much - given the present state of one's cellar - one will have to drink if one follows the drinkability report and shows whether one is going to confront an alcoholic tsunami somewhere down the line if too many bottles become available simultaneously: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sif0fZc6lsc
9/18/2015 9:13:00 AM - Hello Eric. The longer I use CT the more I enjoy it, a brainchild to be proud of.
7/19/2015 12:45:00 PM - Like my predecessor, I want to thank you for accepting friendship as well as for all the work of producing and developing this wonderful website. I couldn't imagine administrating even my comparatively small cellar without it anymore and feel somewhat ashamed of not being able to contribute financially at the moment as I am about to lose my source of income and can't see something else arising instead. I hope to compensate by investing above average effort - with a quasi-scientific twist - into my tasting notes and comments so as to raise the attractivity and value of the website. Hope that doesn't have the opposite effect ☺ .
6/16/2015 1:03:00 PM - Thanks for accepting my friend request. I LOVE this website. It took me a while to map my cellar and get all of my wines entered, but now that they're entered maintaining it as I drink or purchase wines is VERY easy. Thanks for building this website!
1/20/2015 11:01:00 PM - Hey Paul. Piedmont was pretty much a dream...
1/20/2015 10:53:00 PM - Hi Eric i just stumbled on the summary of your visit to Piedmont (while checking out on Vietti Scarrone). One of my favorite wine regions to visit -glad to see you are finally getting turned on to these wines, looks like you visited some of my favorite producers but you will have to go back as there is so much more... -we can have a lot of fun pulling corks next time your return to our corner of the world. We managed to obtain some fine fresh truffles from Alba over the holidays and your write up made me wish to go back. Sounds like you are enjoying your time in Europe. Hi to the Mrs. Cheers
1/18/2015 9:48:00 AM - Sorry, the site doesn't track birthdates. You could try posting in our forum.
1/18/2015 8:39:00 AM - Eric, I see thru FB you and your family are having a great time in Europe. I have a question, is there a way to find out other users who have the same birthyear? I have become friends with Richard Jennings and Brad England and this year we turn 60. I am hosting a charitable dinner in early May of all first growths (many in magnum format) and want to reach out to other 1955 CT users. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your input. Jamie...jlgnml@aol.com
11/15/2014 12:37:00 AM - Mark, click to your display options and change the default currency and date settings: https://www.cellartracker.com/displayoptions.asp
11/14/2014 9:31:00 AM - Am impressed by site Eric , and Vinopal App , support for GB pound would be helpful !
11/11/2014 11:23:00 PM - It was pretty much a wine lover's dream in Piemonte!
11/11/2014 10:38:00 PM - Glad to see you made it to Piemonte/Langhe, my second home, my first love
10/20/2014 11:36:00 PM - 2009 Pichon Lalande should be great someday!
10/20/2014 7:15:00 PM - Just managed to get (for a friend @AusWineGuy) a 2009 vintage of your dream wine into my cellar from my recent trip to Paris. It will get opened in 2024.
10/18/2014 7:54:00 AM - Thanks so much Motz!
10/18/2014 7:40:00 AM - Awesome cellar Eric!
12/22/2013 11:15:00 AM - Thanks so much!
12/22/2013 11:14:00 AM - Eric, Hope you had a good Hanukkah. I've been here about a year, and I absolutely love this site and what you have done with it! Fantastic work! Thank you.
8/3/2013 4:00:00 PM - To move wine between bins, toggle from MY CELLAR to the INDIVIDUAL BOTTLE display mode. Then you can bulk relocate many bottles at once. Or you can edit bottles easily on a wine by wine basis clicking on the VIEW/EDIT BOTTLES link in the side panel. Also, for future support requests, please click CONTACT US at the bottom of any page.
8/3/2013 1:14:00 PM - Eric, is there an easy way to transfer wine between bins?
5/15/2013 6:44:00 PM - Thanks for the Pegau comments. I'm guessing it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the 2009 vintage as well. My local wine store has some in stock. Keep up the great work! I hope the mobile project is going well. Can't wait to see the results.
5/7/2013 3:34:00 PM - Thanks again for a great tool, Eric. No better way to manage a collection!
4/29/2013 7:10:00 AM - Please email me or post in the discussion forum for product support. Look at the bottom of every page for the CONTACT US link.
4/29/2013 6:23:00 AM - Eric since the format switch we cannot print bar code labels, is there any trick we might of missed?
4/12/2013 10:21:00 AM - I agree with you on the aerator comment. When I took some wine courses 15 years ago from Patrick Fegan he actually referred to them as "yuppie gimmicks" when he was asked about them
4/6/2013 5:33:00 PM - 2008 Pegau is up and down, an erratic vintage for them. The 2010 is something really special I suspect... Pegau varies a lot vintage to vintage and really seems to be more of a reflection of the wild character of each vintage. I think fondly of 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010. They are each like different children and all beautiful in their own way.
4/4/2013 7:59:00 PM - How was your 2008 Pegau? I have a 2010 but am planning to let it age a while. Wondering if you have any feedback/experience on youth versus age with Pegau wines. Love what you've been doing with the website. Thanks!
3/10/2013 7:57:00 PM - pflim, I'm not really a fan of aerators other than decanters.
3/10/2013 7:49:00 PM - Hi Eric, I'm curious to know what you think of wine aerators. I don't use them but lately have seen more people from local wine tastings use this gadget. I personally much rather decant but wanted to get your opinion. Not sure if it makes a difference or if it even works... Cheers!
12/23/2012 6:58:00 PM - Hi Eric, Merry Christmas. Enjoying splendid wines over the holiday season is fantastic, and Cellar Tracker seriously makes the tasting and enjoyment much more interesting. Appreciate your effort. Just one qk note, I really like the "save the search" function, but somehow not working lately. If you dont't mind to have a look when you get a chance =) Best wishes
12/22/2012 8:43:00 AM - Hi Eric, Thanks for all the work that you have put into the new site. It seems to work very well. I hope that you had a great Hanukkah. Will there be an android app in the works too?
12/12/2012 6:17:00 PM - Hi Eric, Happy Hanukkah.. Great Site and super iPad app (Cellar Vu). When can we expect a iPhone App for Cellar Vu?
12/6/2012 7:36:00 AM - No Christmas for me. For Hannukah I have to ignore what pairs best with a Latke.
12/6/2012 3:18:00 AM - Eric, I love the notifications part, then people can see when you posted a comment on their specific tasting notes and also see if you have questions or so. Love it!! Thanks so much Eric for continuing to make the site even more awesome! And just as a side question: what are you having for Christmas?
11/30/2012 12:01:00 PM - Many thanks!
11/29/2012 3:56:00 PM - Huge props to you and Dan on the new site! Such a huge improvement. Now try to get some sleep. :)
11/28/2012 7:49:00 AM - Thanks everyone. Yes, big mobile push next.
11/28/2012 3:46:00 AM - I'm a very new member and love what you have put together! Also love the new site design. Great job! Next step, iphone app...
11/28/2012 12:28:00 AM - Great Job with new site Eric! is a pleasure being here! Regards from Spain (Madrid)
11/26/2012 4:00:00 PM - Cool new site sweetie!
10/27/2012 2:40:00 PM - Frank, my cellar can physically hold about 8,000 bottles, although right now I only have about 3,000. I hope to fill it someday, but I have cut back on buying a great deal over the past four years.
10/8/2012 4:52:00 PM - I am sure you have been asked this, but I can't find the post. How many bottles will your cellar hold? it's my dream cellar.
5/2/2011 5:15:00 PM - Weinfreund JR, thanks so much for spreading the good word!
5/1/2011 2:23:00 AM - Dear Eric, at each tasting I show up or at every private event your application is being promoted by myself. Keep on trucking!
9/11/2010 4:33:00 PM - Now that I'm more settled in and have found my sea legs here, I just wanted recognize all the work you've put in on this program. It's absolutely fantastic and I love it. There's nothing like it around as far as I can see, particularly with the volume of user contributions, and the tie-ins of subscription data. I love the new application and actually started using the new version first, as I started entering my cellar this year. I still find the old version very powerful, tho, and have started using it for quite a few things, so I can hardly wait for you to complete your migration. Thank you again for this wonderful application!
6/22/2010 11:34:00 AM - Hi Eric. Turns out we have a mutual friend - Larry Orecklin. He suggested CellarTracker to us and so far we are very pleased. Nice job building this site...no easy feat! Cheers. /gretchen
5/1/2010 8:06:00 PM - Please search "Evening Land Vineyards Pinot Noir Seven Springs" and notice that there appear to be duplicate wines with slightly different names. Will GrapeStories give us the ability to either correct these things or submit them for review without spamming your message board?
4/7/2010 5:14:00 PM - I cant find a way to enter a new wine. I am trying to log Estimulo Sauvignon Blanc from Mendoza.
3/10/2010 3:21:00 PM - So glad you are enjoying!
3/8/2010 12:21:00 AM - Have spent several hours navigating on the new site, and it is great! Love the new options.
3/7/2010 4:00:00 PM - Love this new site,,, most of all I love to read the tasting notes which are so much easier to read now on the wines I own as well as tasting notes on wines that I never heard of, which others have rated so highly and have specific tasting comments that make me want to expand my collection to other wines bacsed on their notes. Wine Searcher is great as well, much more accessable.
3/4/2010 11:42:00 AM - The new site is beautiful, Eric. I can hardly wait for you to get all the functionality finished and the bugs worked out. As an old dog, these new "tricks" are taking me some time to figure out, but the overall experience is certainly going to be a nicer one. When I get back from my 30th anniversary vacation in late April, I promise to make a payment... really, I will...
3/1/2010 9:34:00 PM - Great job! I love the new site. Happy drinking
2/28/2010 11:00:00 PM - Congrats on getting grapestories.com up and running! It looks great and already feels easier. 1st sorta bug report: I found the Ready to Drink button, but it seems flawed. It lists wines that are not as far past their prime at the top, rather than the old sort that showed me the old, probably vinegar, wines at the top, followed by the drink NOW or it will be vinegar soon, etc.
2/28/2010 4:23:00 PM - Thanks Richard, Mr. Tasting Note. I have some killer upgrades to tasting story (the new name) coming pretty soon.
2/28/2010 12:57:00 PM - Eric, Congratulations on getting the redesign up and running! The graphic look is really great. I'm missing being able to view the Tasting Events as yet in this format, but I know you're working on that. Major kudos on GrapeStories!
2/28/2010 11:42:00 AM - Now that I have spend most of my Saturday and Sunday playing with the new CellarTracker, I am amazed on how you did it. Great job.
2/27/2010 4:20:00 PM - Thanks so much everyone. Pretty intense day today. Definitely issues and performance glitches for me to track down. It feels so great though to finally have this 'out there' instead of just being a secret on my laptop. Anyway, onward and upward!
2/27/2010 2:28:00 PM - Congrats! Still playing with the site but looks great so far. I vote for NOT changing the name, though.
2/27/2010 2:16:00 PM - Congratulations, Eric. Site looks great and all your hard work definitely paid off. Can't wait to play around with the new interface.
2/27/2010 2:15:00 PM - Eric - Your talent always outshines your previous work. This site is just fantastic! I'd like to know.....other than coffee, what will you be drinking to celebrate?
2/27/2010 2:00:00 PM - Eric, this is awesome, Thanks again for your passion to enhance our wine experience...
2/27/2010 1:04:00 PM - I'm digging the new interface. Congrats on a great launch...enjoy OTBN tonight! Cheers.
2/27/2010 12:51:00 PM - This seems just brilliant. Congratualtions on a superb launch !
2/27/2010 12:26:00 PM - Absolutely awesome Eric! Congratulations on a great accomplishment! You should be so proud, and we are so thankful! Keep the great features coming, and thanks again for an absolutely priceless resource! Cheers!
2/27/2010 11:25:00 AM - I like it Eric....It is much more user friendly....great design....Good luck with CT Beta
2/27/2010 11:00:00 AM - Eric, This is awesome. Long way from 2003. Well done. CT member #43 from the old days.
2/27/2010 10:44:00 AM - Congrats eric! This is very very nice.
2/27/2010 9:54:00 AM - So far so good! Congratulations.. Take a few days off.
2/27/2010 9:46:00 AM - Eric, congratulations with this wonderful site that will connect wine enthusiasts all over the world.

Wow. What a perfect start to summer on a sunny, pretty 82 degree day in Seattle in May.
Lemon, seashell and salt. Shockingly vibrant, electric energy. Long, mouthwatering, so mineral, so citric. Really popping. Crazy, crazy wine at $40.

Last bottle is the best?
This was EPIC. I drink a lot of Syrah, best in the world, and when you gat a Cabot that is on it twinges pretty much all of the feelings of some of the best.
This is labeled at 14.4% but drinks so fresh. Blackberry and funk on the nose. Black pepper. Olive. These are always so reminiscent of a Cornas flavor profile, but is is weightier and fruitier. Strong black fruit elements. Mmm, this is so tasty, fully resolved, a nice streak of acidity, just such a lovely expression of Syrah.
Absolutely fantastic. Humboldt County Syrah at 17 years?!?
