  • GMs - Aussie Classics: Stem, undergrowth, chocolate, blueberry and violets. The palate has good life about it, with the structure holding things well in place. Not that complex, and I don't think it'll stand up to much more aging, probably now to 5 years will be a good time to drink it.

  • Heavy Levi Garret chewing tobacco nose. Like opening a fresh bag and sticking your nose in it. Still smell and taste oak after all these years.

  • Deep ruby/garnet core with medium garnet rim. Heavy deposit in the bottle. Unbelievable flavours! As soon as I decanted the wine, it just filled the whole room. Pronounced animal and vegetal character - leather, wet wool, tobacco, wet leaves - combined with ripeness notes - like jam, some caramel. The fruit flavours are also still there in the background - mostly black fruit, but almost gone, since Nose is very developed. Flavours reveal the same indications combined with sweet dried fruit aftertaste which was very long. Medium body, medium acidity, low and very ripe tannins. I am even sorry to have tasted this wine with smoked sausages, which actually worked very well with it. What a great find! It's a great mature Coonawarra, in line with a 3rd growth for sure, but for a fraction of the price. Strongly reccomended. If only I had more of these St. Georges - apparently it's a 12ha single vineyard from Coonawarra. Cheers!
