  • Off a restaurant list in a famous brasserie in Paris. Incredible wine that replaced a sweet dessert as we went for some cheese instead. It shut down the table, lots of ahhs oohs and head scratching. I have to say it again. I think the professional wine reviewers all make the same conceptual mistake. If a Riesling is made in different sweetness levels, they increase the score with each level of sweetness. Yes, the complexity increases, but the drink-ability decreases since sweetness is not what grown up people usually like. This is why Port, Sauternes & Co. all struggle to sell. So my take is different. I think Riesling Kabinett and Spätlese are the best wines of Germany not Eiswein and TBA.
This bottle here proved it. TN: Wonderful nos with petrol, acacia flower, anis seeds. Very complex but with an amazing Trinkfluss. The bottle was gone in a jiffy.

  • Pale lemon colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with petroleum, white peach, green apples, flint, wet stone and honeysuckle. Pronounced taste of white peach, pineapple, green apples, ripe lemon, flint and wet stone. Long and sweet finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good Riesling Kabinett with a pronounced sweetness. Needed 15 min in the glass. Drink now or over the next twenty years. Goes well with sushi or spicy food.
