92 Points

This is a stunning entry level Barbaresco from PdB. Lovely nose of sweet cherry fruit, menthol and liquorice. Deep and powerful, but with a certain brightness from the red fruit. Really great balance and class. The nose shows a very interesting floral character, sort of like lavender, but also far from it… Gives a certain elegance to this wine.

On the palate deep, sweet red cherry fruit with a touch of smoke. Great length with slightly drying tannins. Good acidity. Really lovely fruit in this bottling showcasing the beauty of the 2016. For an entry level Barbaresco this is great buy. Drinking nicely now, but will probably benefit from at least 2 years in the cellar. 91 now, 92 potential.
