Sunday, September 17, 2023 - Off a restaurant list in a famous brasserie in Paris. Incredible wine that replaced a sweet dessert as we went for some cheese instead. It shut down the table, lots of ahhs oohs and head scratching. I have to say it again. I think the professional wine reviewers all make the same conceptual mistake. If a Riesling is made in different sweetness levels, they increase the score with each level of sweetness. Yes, the complexity increases, but the drink-ability decreases since sweetness is not what grown up people usually like. This is why Port, Sauternes & Co. all struggle to sell. So my take is different. I think Riesling Kabinett and Spätlese are the best wines of Germany not Eiswein and TBA.
This bottle here proved it. TN: Wonderful nos with petrol, acacia flower, anis seeds. Very complex but with an amazing Trinkfluss. The bottle was gone in a jiffy.
