From pre-phylloxera vines around 170 years old with ultra-low yields and vinified in old barrels. Brooding blackberry fruit with some earthiness but gained elegance and silkiness with time. No pyrazine notes; the low sulphur treatment gave a purity and transparency to the fruit that’s rarely seen in Bordeaux. Never quite shook off the rusticity so might not be for everyone, but I enjoyed the sui generis nature here; this was even more out there than Clos du Jaugueyron (who are friends with this maker).

Textbook Chablis unlike the Moreau-Naudet a couple of days before. Ripe citrus fruit that showed some secondary development with slight honey notes. Good drive even if it didn't have the most depth as expected for this level.

98% Chardonnay, 2% Meunier, 1g/l dosage. Disgorged 22 July 2022, only 1107 bottles made. Been searching for this maker for a while and wasn’t disappointed. A rosé made using a method of infusion similar to tea-making, where the Meunier berries are gently massaged in a tank of Chardonnay for 24 hours. Very pretty salmon pink colour with delicate strawberry fruit on the palate. An understated wine with purity and tension, absolutely delicious and this was finished in no time.
