2019 Turley Casa Nuestra
5/13/2024 - Vinsboro Likes this wine: 85 Points
Delicious, but unresolved at this stage. The Petite Syrah component brings depth, texture and heft but it's still elemental - you can taste the Zin and PS separately. Lots of vanilla. Plush on the palate. Hold for five (or more).

2000 Château Vieux Maillet

Archetypal Pomerol - Merlot dominates. The texture, especially the midpalate, is plush, full and velvety. Cocoa and bitter chocolate flavors wrap a dark plum core, totally resolved tannins, utterly outstanding in absolute terms and with food. Ridonkulous QPR.

2022 Monastero Suore Cistercensi Lazio Coenobium
2/19/2024 - Vinsboro Likes this wine: 92 Points
Clear and lightly golden color. Nose of honeyed almond, jasmine, white tea and mead. Viscous and slightly tannic in the mouth, with phenolic sweetness and acidic bite. Long finish. Seriously delicious, with a long way to go. Trebbiano (45%), Malvasia (35%) and Verdicchio (20%), with skin contact.
Editorial note: this is a cultish wine from central Italy, sometimes known as the Nun Wine as it’s made by hand at a monastery with oversight from Paolo Bea.
Sourced from Westgate Wine, Raleigh, NC.
