Drinking very nicely right now. Velvety smooth with cocoa, subtle dark berries, some tobacco, maybe a little smoke toward the end. Shorter finish than I expected but it didn't detract from the wine at all.

Notes from day 2. Dark purple to black in color. Nose of black raspberry, floral, coconut, oak/spice. Palate of black raspberry, cherry, caramel, oak and spice with a little earth showing as well. The finish is above average in length and there is lots of tannin and acidity present as well so probably really needs some time. Overall the wine was young, showed lots of oak, and some heat when it warmed up to room temps. Its a little too much oak for my tastes at this point, but still a very good wine. Hold: 50+5+12+16+6

Decanted for 30 minutes. Smooth, balanced, a touch smoky. Full of some vanilla, but more a floral and dark raspberry quality. Never syrupy or hot, the essence of cool WA Cab Franc. Very lasting flavors, and showed real promise of what's to come after being open an hour. I would expect more distinct flavors on the finish than what we got at this stage. Hang on to it for a few more years.

We could have purchased all the wines from this highly recommended winery. It actually lived up to the hype. We purchased the cab franc because it stood really well on its own. It had some nice pepper to it as well.

Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip (Red Mountain/Walla Walla Day 1): Strong nose of vanilla, black cherry, black raspberry, lavender.
Palate of black cherry, blackberries, little caamel, and herb and pepper.
Good finish and structure.
