Popped this last one a full 10 years later than my previous TN. Very tight single piece cork, no sign of seepage, excellent fill level. Sieving recommended.
Cloudy deep red, no sign of bricking, somewhat opaque. Nose is a bit muted, a bit of VA, cherry, Tasted over 4h, the wine remained hard and lean, with high acidity and not much fruit, development or interest. Very little charm at 14 years after vintage suggests not much point in holding onto this one. Drink short term, or avoid. 14% abv

A lovely example of Nebbiolo at a low price point. Still youthful and primary, it has a lovely tarry nose. No rush on this one, but it's drinking well now.

No detailed notes as this was drunk at a dinner with friends. We also drank a 2005 Produttori del Barbaresco and a 2007 Fiorenzo Nada Barbaresco Rombone with the meal. The Perbacco, with universal agreement was the star of the evening. It's still fresh; there's no fading of the pigments and it was succulently enjoyable. I would expect this wine to hold good for another 3-5 years. But as I have only one bottle left and no inclination to wait that long, I guess I'll never know if my prediction is correct. For me, the Vietti Perbacco is one of the best QPR Langhe Nebbiolo wines that I've tried. It's consistently good from one vintage to the next. And it's better than some Barolo but at a much more affordable price. 2007 was a prime example of the Perbacco, and I've rated it 93 for it's poise and elegance.

Truly a baby Barolo. Might have been past prime yet still a wonderful Barolo expression.
