I am really digging this right now. Very youthful, it is tough to guess it is 35 years old. Very fresh acidity and good energy. The sugar appears to have integrated very well. Sweet, yet earthy nose. Liquored cherries, dates (?) and peaches on the palate. Very long and clean finish. To me this delivers a lot of what I would get from a classy port, but with lower alcohol (14.2%) which makes it a winner in my book.

Despite being slightly over the hill, it was impressive with prune, almond and Port flavors. A piece of history.

Blind Tasting 1978 - 1995 Ridge Dusi Ranch Zinfandels (Rich & Peggy's House, Los Altos, CA): Tons of sediment in my pour. Cherry liqueur nose. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Deep, sweet dark cherry on the palate. Port-like and clearly the late harvest. (my 5th, group's 1st)
