Way past the suggested drinking window on the bottle that suggested it be drank by 2006. With good storage, this wine was more suggestive of a cab or syrah at this age. Really nice tasting with the fruit more subdued than when younger but the spice comes through and the mouthfeel is great urging another sip. Paired with grilled leg of lamb.

This wine breaks all the rules about drinking windows. Past its peak ten years ago. Still an outstanding wine. Stored perfectly since release. Big fruit and acid still there. Like a fine claret.

On opening, dark in the glass, served blind, to me smelled like a Cab or Cab blend. Delicious flavors of red and darker fruits, with the red dominating.. some brambliness that added complexity and interest. Really a deep wine with a strong, pleasant finish that lingered. On day 2, this continued to show well, smooth and complex and layered. On day 1 we had this with linguini with a red sauce; on day 2 it was paired with home-made `taco bell' tacos. One of those wines I will remember for a long time for its uniqueness.
