Bought futures at a barrel tasting and now wish I bought more. Inky color, unique nose I can't describe, tannins are now soft, licorice and leather with a subtle finish. Probably can cellar a little more but great now - may be at its peak. Had w BBQ ribs, spicy roasted veggies and dark chocolate dessert. Went well w all. Hard to go wrong w grapes from Rockpile.

Blind Tasting at the Lake - South Charlotte Wine Lovers (Bob and Anita's Place on Lake Wylie): Blind Tasting. Guessed Cabernet (or maybe a Petite Syrah). Have never had a 100% Petite Verdot. Loved this wine. I also guessed this was pre-2007 (barely got that guess right). Bob guessed this was something from Napa Valley floor -(not mountain fruit). Sue and Lynn had no idea. Great QPR on this. Dark and smooth. Will seek out some.

(Stryker Sonoma Petit Verdot Rockpile Vineyard) Stryker’s rendition of the Rockpile Vineyard shows deep, violet-red pigmentation and a pretty, if monochromatic, violet-perfumed nose. In the mouth, the wine is rather lean and sleek, its raspberry-and-violet notes wrapped in rounded, moderate tannins, with flourishes of smoky French oak and chewing tobacco creeping in toward the finish. Appellation: Rockpile

Took this to a blind tasting. Everyone guessed it was a really great cabernet sauvignon
