  • Good, but the balance was a bit off. As noted by others, there is a pronounced tobacco vein running through this pinot.

  • I agree with Pinothoarder's review. The balance just isn't quite right on this and I find it on the acidic side. Definitely better with food and after opened for a couple of hours. For the money, I am rather disappointed. Tobacco on the nose and there is an unusual bitter cocoa-metalic finish that is rather off-putting. Bummer. We generally like the wines from this winery. This was a difficult vintage.

  • Decanted 2 hours, drank over 8 hours. Showed its best between the 2 -4 hour window. Medium bodied and only slightly above average for my tastes. Sour cherry and some not-quite-ripe fruit; a little light eucalyptus and menthol in the background help boost it up from a C to a C+. Would be okay at $20-$25, but at $50 I’m disappointed for the premium paid for the reserve. Maybe its the weak vintage, but it feels like maybe a pre-mature harvest. I’m holding my last one until 2015 and hoping for a miracle.
