It is amazing, the difference between 2011 and 2012 for this wine. While Methven did a stellar job trying to produce wine with 2011 grapes considering the the poor growing season. But, this 2012 is a different crop of grapes and what Methven has produced is absolutly phenomenal. We had the opportunity in early 2013 to taste this wine as individual clones from the barrel before blending and back then we could tell it would be special. It's so amazing to see the final product 3 years later.
Cherries, raspberry and cola jump from the glass that is dark maroon but not blackish like a California pinot. The tannins are smooth and almost sweet which gives this wine a silky mouthfeel and a light body. This wine perfectly matches my idea of what an Oregon pinot should be.
