You would need to tast a different vintage against the 2007 to discern the brett. It is definitely a bit more "earth" than the normal Peay profile; but also very well structured and a ton of cherry fruit. Impressive for a 10 year old CA pinot noir.

The winemaker, Vanessa Wong called me upon reciept of the wine with concerns about the bret in this bottling only, so I powered through a bottle of Pomarium early to provide feedback. The bret was there and would not go away no matter how you might decant. It was slightly better on day two. Since I am drinking 2007 Pinot Noir presently, I decided to try again and just finished another bottle; it too was contaminated. I am not too fond of the band-aid flavor and it persisted on day two although the wine had softened in general. I probably should have accepted the substitute offered, especially since the 2007 Peay Estate and Scallop Shelf Pinot Noirs are NOT affected and are drinking very well.

I held on to my bottles of this because I don't mind a bit of brett and it was limited in the first couple. It has gotten much more extreme, however, the band-aid characteristics becoming overpowering. Most of this bottle went down the drain. Still drinkable if you are very brett tolerant but I'm glad this was my last bottle.

This is the vintage where a mildly brett-infected barrel made it into the final blend, and Peay offered to take back wine from everyone. I chose to keep my bottles, having picked up at the winery, direct to my storage locker. Glad I did. Yes, this shows a very faint hint of bandaid brett, along with notes of cherry hard candy, pine, and hints of spice; the palate is gorgeous, elegant and flavorful cherry, carrying those same pine/spice notes, with perfectly balanced acidity, some background fine tannins. Fresh and still very young, I'll be happy to follow my remaining bottles over the next decade. FWIW, wife didn't know what I had poured her, thought it was a Burg.

Neither my wife nor I detected the promised brett. Just cherries, some oak and raspberries. Maybe palate sensitivity, but we both enjoyed the bottle.
