Clear light to medium color; fruity nose, lots of licorice; light to medium bodied, fresh attack, spiced pleasant middle with a fruity aftertaste; really nice and straightforward with a good taste; seems to be in a good drinking window - not sure if it will improve more with time

Plums and dark purple fruits with lilac, sage, and a mineral-laden and smoky finish. The minerality on this is really nice. Lots of sweet licorice and cola flavors too, along with cardamom and cinnamon spice. Maybe I’m just imagining things because of the history of the vineyard, but I think I detect faint hints of apple too. No super complex, but it’s really delicious. This didn’t pair well with short ribs cooked in Guinness or with lamb patties, so I’ll have to work on pairings. I did enjoy it quite a bit on its own and felt sad when the bottle was finished. Needed about 30 minutes of air, but slightly better on day 1. Better in Zalto Burgundy glass than in Riedel Sommeliers Burgundy glass.

Really good place right now, in balance, a little bit mellowed, complex fruit and spice and pretty seamless. Palm Desert w/ribs.

Tasting great. Deep fruit and balance with a long luscious finish.
