A bit past its prime now. Dark garnet and cloudy. Tons of ripe fruit on the nose and palate, but the ample acidity is still there and a bit out of balance now with the cranberry and red cherry fruit.

A bit on the dark side for Pinot noir, this is still surprisingly purple six years after vintage. The nose is reticent on the pop-and-pour, but opens up after 30 minutes to reveal an odd mix of huckleberry, candied raspberry, green tea, and allspice. It is very acidic and surprisingly light on the nose. The palate is not huge, either, with more of the tea character and considerable spice to go with the red fruit base. The acidity really comes through on the palate, as well, and this is a good food wine, readily cutting through starches and fat. The tannins are resolved and smooth, but the alcohol is a bit too prominent, even at just 14%. The finish is not long at this point, and I think I may be catching this wine a little bit past peak. It is still above average, but if you have them at this point, I recommend drinking up.
