Mick Unti is an underestimated wine maker. His wines are complex, full bodied and with, thankfully, good aging potential. Enjoying a 2005 vintage in 2012 California is a luxury and should not be understated. Deep ruby colour, good acidity and remnant tannins with a little residual oak. The varietals complement each other as they should with a good Rhone blend. Berry fruits and plums but a bit weak on the nose. It probably could have benefitted with a little more time to open up but I am impatient. Overall very good. Think ahead with Mick Unti wines and you will not be disappointed. I strongly recommend Unti at all times. Cheers.

Still packing a lot of alcoholic punch for its age. Syrah dominates but no clear tastes amid the vaguely berry bombast. Must have seen the earlier review subliminally as this went down famously with a gruyere/cheddar mac & cheese.
