  Such a big fruit bomb that it was not good. Served to friends and all of them thought it was big but not very exceptional.

  This nice, toasty and slightly jammy zin from the Santa Cruz Mountains developed some nice depth and character about 30 minutes after opening, and paired well with spicy oven-roasted cod fillets in mushrooms, heirloom tomato, basil and peas.
  
  The sweetness of the peas was an especially nice complement to the ever-so-slightly tart flavors of an otherwise brooding red fruit flavor. It's relatively low-ish in tannins and features balanced acid and a nice strong rear palate.
  
  Overall, I'd say I'm a big fan of these guys, though this particular wine is one to drink within the first few hours, as it seemed to fade away into more of a sour cranberry-like profile after that. (It didn't drink well at all the next day.)
