  • Such a big fruit bomb that it was not good. Served to friends and all of them thought it was big but not very exceptional.

  • This nice, toasty and slightly jammy zin from the Santa Cruz Mountains developed some nice depth and character about 30 minutes after opening, and paired well with spicy oven-roasted cod fillets in mushrooms, heirloom tomato, basil and peas.

The sweetness of the peas was an especially nice complement to the ever-so-slightly tart flavors of an otherwise brooding red fruit flavor. It's relatively low-ish in tannins and features balanced acid and a nice strong rear palate.

Overall, I'd say I'm a big fan of these guys, though this particular wine is one to drink within the first few hours, as it seemed to fade away into more of a sour cranberry-like profile after that. (It didn't drink well at all the next day.)
