Started out promising with plum spice and wild game aromas. Initial taste was flat and the aromas faded in the glass within five minutes. I really enjoyed tasting this wine at the winery in 2006, but it has lost the character I remember. I should have opened it much earlier. Like other tasters, I recommend drinking this wine in the immediate future.

Well past its prime. First bottle was ruined; second almost drinkable, but nothing at all like the fine wine it had been. If you have any, open them up asap.

This Zinfandel from a mostly Pinot Noir producer is made from some of the oldest vines in the Santa Cruz Mountains is kind of wild and unmannered with brambly black fruit, wet earth, cedar, leather and port on the nose. Huge red and black fruit, notes of port and carmel on entry. . . but then nice mint and forest notes carried through on a long finish. Held up nicely through an evening and was still evolving a couple days later. An interesting example of a cool-climate, old-vine Zinfandel from one of my favorite winegrowing regions.

Very nice aged Zin. Good fruit, shortish finish, good balance. Fell apart after about 2 hours, but was very good til then.
