  • This wine is a great example of fine wine craft. Decanted for over an hour. It’s aged nicely. The color has lightened. Subdued tannins, low acidity heavier on the earthy notes Notes of Spices, light leather, currants, wooden drawer. 2-1/2 hours after decanting the wine retained its character. Very nice.

  • Yeah, so I found this well-rated wine frustrating.
The pop and pour glass was overly sweet though with strongly bucolic undertones.
The decanted glass has morphed into something acidicly green and still alcoholic. Yes, this is a 16.2% wine but it has been around for awhile. Can't say that I'm impressed here, so the best hope is more time.

  • I opened this because readers suggested it should be consumed by 2010. Not by my book - I'd give this intense, dark purple, mouth-coating monster several more years of fun. Last bottle though.

  • On the nose alone this gets high marks. Boysenberry jam, black plum, herbs, and a dark tapenade component. On the palate this is vibrant and fruity, with a hint of black olives, spice, leather, and just enough acidic lift...I think I'm in love.

  • 12/17/08: This is wow of a delicious wine. Beautiful dark purple color with a huge nose of dark and red fruit, pepper, bacon, liquor and spice. The flavors are layered and complementary, dark fruit, black and white pepper, vanilla, oak, roast meat, smoke, chocolate and earth. The structure and balance are sophisticated and intoxicating, with soft long tannins, good acidity, and a long, very long finish with fruit, tannin and spice. Drink the remaining over the next 8-10 years, if i can wait.
