I usually try to buy a bottle or two of either Hop Barn or Chico’s Hill upon release each year, but we seldom have opened them. Tonight we had leftovers from the weekend, coq au vin, so I decided to splurge. Wow. Blackberry, plum, pepper, smoky meats, with some vanilla notes. Really easy to drink. Have one more bottle and plan to drink within the next year or two. Minor sedimentation.

Slo-oxed for 10 minutes but better with more air. A deep purple color. Lots of dark red fruits and a touch of chocolate on the nose. Lots of dark red fruits and spice on the medium bodied palate, along with some blue fruit, a touch of chocolate, and juicy but balancing acidity. Will make the decade mark, but don't wait to enjoy.

Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor of dark cherries and mocha with a touch of black pepper in the finish. Rich and full with a nice mouthfeel, good balance, and a moderately long finish. Very accomplished wine.

Courtesy of Marty. Dark fruit and pepper aromas. Nice peppery dark fruit on the palate with heavy spice on the finish. 89+ pts.
