Clear burgundy red - slightly bricked but with no oxidation. Light bodied in the glass. Herbal (not herbaceous) nose with black & brown spice. Gives it's alc. up on the nose. Light to medium body in the mouth, viscosity coming from the alc. with no glycol feel. Shows it's acid, and alc. but balanced with red fruit and black spice flavors. Starts bright and refreshing, finishes with spicy, dark fruit and eucalyptus. This is classical cold climate Pinot holding it's own with age. Like other cold coastal west county pinots the Failla Hirsch is old worldly in nature and has the aging potential to match. Previous reviewers drank this wine way too young IMHO. Super food wine - drank with aged NY Strip and red pepper sauce, grilled bok choy, and salad topped with strawberry, chevre and vinaigrette. The light bodied wine held it's own and contributed to the flavors of my meal. #the way it should be.

started a bit flat but began to shine after about 30 minutes. very muted nose initially as well but both came to life. "A" called it as a Flowers! Not too far off in geography

14.3% alc...really spicy nose, incredible depth as well, almost a minty character?...medium-full in body, rich texture with blazing acidity - refreshing and full at the same time...can't wait to consume with rare tuna...mmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm. Nice wine, last bottle though.
