  • One small glass. My associates gobbled it down before I could get more.

  • A nice every day drinker and decent QPR at $20/750ml. Deep ruby in color, though not quite opaque, the nose is full of sweet, summer red fruit, sous bois, and hints of crushed, wet rocks. On the palate, juicy ripe strawberries and raspberries, dried herbs, and warm spices. Acidity hits on the mid-palate, but dissipates quickly leading to some greenness and medium-grained tannins. Would be a 90+ if the acidity carried through as the finish is a bit green and flabby, but otherwise a very nice wine.

  • Clos du Mont-Olivet's 2020 Lirac is a deep-to-opaque ruby blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Fermented entirely in concrete, it was brought up in a combination of used oak barrels (42%), amphorae (38%) and demi-muids (20%). Serially sampled over a three hour period from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, it fully blossoms after the first hour in carafe. Intensely aromatic, it offers an array of black and red bramble fruits, Bing cherries, garrigue, hazelnuts and white pepper. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, minimally oaked and with well-concealed alcohol (despite being listed as 15.5%), it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas and is impressively dense on the mid-palate. The tannins are medium in weight and silky smooth, resulting in a soft mouthfeel that carries all the way through the lengthy finish. This Southern Rhone performs well above its pay grade. Enjoy it at any time throughout the remainder of the decade. Drink now-2030.

  • Aromas of raspberry Grenache, cherry, potpourri and menthol. Flavors of raspberry, cranberry, sour cherry and fig. Ends with a sour cherry finish of 15-20 second finish. Close to a nice Chateauneuf but a bit more on the sour fruit side.

  • Visit at the estate e

From 70 % Grenache, others being Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault ...

Lirac is situated on the other bank of the river Rhône, pretty close soils as the Chateauneuf, little less rolled stones, and more broken or some sort of gravely limestone. depends on areas still.

dark berries, a profound wine, not much opened yet

Palate is high tannins, med acidity and aromas are a bit closed so far.
