  • Very impressive. Could pass for a Chateauneuf de Pape from a lesser producer. integrated alcohol. Dark fruits.

  • This is the best Lirac that I have ever had. The wine is very dark in nature, featuring wonderful aromas and flavors of ripe fig, plum and blackberry, eucalyptus, herbs, tar, smoke and ink. This serious wine is very full-bodied, very alcoholic (15,5%) and tannic, but this is balanced by the lush fruitiness and the lively acidity.

All in all, this is a great wine, absolutely on the level of many fine wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This wine will probably evolve for years, but it is also very enjoyable to drink right now.

  • This wine is bone dry and heavy alcohol 15.5%, too much to handle!

  • Taste New Arrivals (San Diego Wine Co.): “60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, & 20% Cinsault from 60+ year old vines grown in yellow-grey sand with galets roulés; Fermented in concrete vats using indigenous yeasts; A partial destemming takes place & the vats are gravity filled. The wine is made avoiding maximal extraction; On the contrary the sought after qualities are elegance & freshness. The free run juice & the press juice are raised separately, mainly in concrete tanks where they undergo their malolactic fermentation. After the final blend is made the wine continued to mature in 95% foudres & 5% older barrels. 15.5% ABV;”

N: RIPE straws with notes of smoke & garrigue

P: Med, poss LM, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which works its way into & through the LONG, balanced finish with a bitter/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS 12-18 mos, & IF the somewhat problematic finish resolves, my VG/VG+ will be low. PROBABLY 89 pts WS (though I was unable to confirm). [This vendor's $22.99 puts it in the middle of wine-searcher's currently LIMITED postings.]
