  • 2018 Torbreck Descendent

Derived from Shiraz cuttings of ancient vines that established the vineyard, and the Viognier skins onto which the resultant fruit was gently crushed, this wine carries the proud lineage of the renowned RunRig. A descendent if you will.

It appears a deep, brooding red with a lighter cherry rim.

The nose bursts forth with an explosion of red and dark fruits – think stewed cherries, strawberry jam, figs, and a hint of oak, all elegantly underscored by a touch of eucalyptus. The nose is bold, and the palate follows suit – an impressive symphony of dark fruit, silky texture, and delicate tannins that maintain a harmonious balance.

The grand finale is a prolonged finish marked by intricate complexity. Picture stewed jam simmering on the stove, plucked boysenberries straight from the tree, a freshly brewed espresso, and vanilla supporting those big brooding dark and red fruits. The Viognier brings it all together with the finesse of a velvet glove. This is not just big; this is Barossa, and undeniably, this is something truly amazing.
