  • Soft bubbles and creamy texture make for a more sophisticated Prosecco than most I have had, but the price point is still very attractive.

  • I know nothing of Prosecco (I am not a fan of champagne or cava, and this was recommended to me as a “give Prosecco a chance” by a friend) - so I can’t really say how this stacks up to what a good Prosecco should be. My expectations were low (admittedly my mindset was that Prosecco is trash level sparkling wine - best used for mimosas or as mouthwash).

With that caveat, my impressions - this by far exceeded my expectations - it’s a very nice wine on its own merits - and when factoring in the price, it’s an amazing value for the money.

“Extra Dry” on label - seems to equate to a pleasant fruitiness with a noticeable, but not distracting, residual sweetness.

The wine is somewhat closed on the nose, hints of green apple and pear. In the mouth, subtle effervescence (much lower than Champagne, for example) - but that’s actually a really good quality for me - it’s delicate mouthfeel (vs Champagne) that works well on its own and shines with food; fruity green apple and pear notes are present, touch of sweetness and yet a very nice and persistent medium acidity. The finish is really the star - a long finish.

Overall - for the price point, this wine is excellent.

I had this with a bit of fresh buffalo mozzarella- that was a nice combo (something more savory would likely have been even better) . . . but this was also very good just on its own (after the mozz was gone). The combo of subtle sweetness and acidity means this likely would work really well at family holiday dinners where there is a wide variety of appetizers and main dishes - and likely would be found enjoyable by most.

    Excellent rapport Q-P

  • A: Peach, citrus, minerality
T: Light peach, a bit of straw/grain and chalkiness

A more substantial prosecco from a higher-quality region. An easily accessible example of the style done a notch higher than the usual 'mimosa makers'. Would buy again.

  • Refreshing, good quality Prosecco. Color: very light, slight hue of faint straw, like flavorless gelatin. The nose: chalky and minerally with some faint floral characteristics. On the palate: chalky and minerally, echoing the initial nose, but with some citrus represented by equal parts lemon and lime. A touch of pear and sour apple notes. Elegant, fine mousse. Sweetness appropriately labeled as extra-dry, therefore expected, but slightly mismatched because the flavor profile is more minerally or savory rather than fresh and fruity. Good, citrus dominant finish. *Casa Vinicola Botter is a distributor, exporter and producer of Italian wines started in 1928. 3rd generation family company, which claims to sell 5% of every wine exported out of Italy, in fact 90% of sales are outside of Italy.
