A Savage Weekend for Chica’s 45th; 5/16/2024-5/19/2024: Two very consistent bottles and we would argue in favour of decanting this. The nose kicks in soft smoky, reductive, had that feel of oak but very little new ok we were told so probably this is the style. Mineral to the point we would argue this is a volcanic soils wine and had a citrus and flintiness across . Very solid 92-93 and a great discovery.

The host kindly double-decanted to serve it. Very reductive and flinty with citrus, lemon zest, grapefruit, gunpowder and smoked yellow fruit. Stylistically, it was trendy like many younger Burgundy producer, such as Pierre Girardin. On the palate, the wine felt like a Pouilly-Fuisse to me, and reminded me of Guffens. Very fun to drink. 92+

BYOB dinner and then some; 2/1/2024-2/2/2024 (Avalon, Amsterdam): [Tasted blind] I called this cuvee, as I had the ‘16, ‘18 and ‘19 over the last year and this wine is so singular that it was immediately clear. Medium+ intensity with a fair amount of reduction, nutty, ripe exotic fruit. Medium+ acidity with a very long finish. This is powerful, some at the table found it too much

This is a very, very big wine. Tropical fruit such as pineapple, butter, orange, lemon curd, flint. Quite a mouthful, great to have tried this.
