My first Groth. Very tasty stuff, but definitely a bit simple and shy for the price and region. It could simply be that it needs time to blossom a little bit. I found it really enjoyable, just very medium, and it feels like it "plays it safe" in many ways.
Gentle nose, not super deep or perfumed but not closed either. Vague dark fruits- blackcurrants, a bit of blackberry pie, some baking spices or dark chocolate. There's almost a little earthy tobacco tone- it's tastefully relegated to the background. Palate the same- the balance is very nice, with the high ABV well-hidden, tannins are present but not coarse or gritty, and the fruit is there with a bit of barrel spice. Fruit isn't buried by the oak at all, although neither are particularly powerful. The profile is nice; it's just really shy, and even though it's definitely well-made, it didn't wow me.

Nice deep ruby red color bordering on purple with blackberries, sweet oak and roses on the nose. The taste was nicely balanced with blackberries, black cherries and a hint of vanilla followed by a balanced oak and a hint of pipe tobacco and earthy notes with moderate tannins and moderate alcohol across the finish.

Raspberry Pop-Tart flavors. dominate with sime licorice notes and chewey tannins. Jammy finish. A bit one note now, but could balance out with a few more years.

Loads of blackberries, some forest floor, touch of vanilla and spice. Deep and brooding in the glass.
