  • Wow. This is a real bruiser. Thick, glass staining deep purple nectar that opens with smoke and birthday candles. Enormous dark fruits - black cherry, black raspberry liquor and stewed plums. Menthol, graphite and BBQ sauce. Fills the palate and lingers. But even better on Day 2, when it calmed down considerably, while still a huge wine. Reminiscent of a petite sirah - particularly Orin Swift's machete, but this is better. For fans of the style certainly, but also those open to setting nuance aside and sampling some hedonism. Drink now if you have to. Better after a year or so.

  • Echoing others, this is still a fairly big wine. I decanted for an hour but it could have been longer. I do enjoy bigger wines so I did enjoy this however, it would have been nice to hold off for a while before drinking but, alas, I didn't, and it was my only bottle. Drink with a decant if you enjoy "bigger" wines but hold for 3-4 years if you appreciate a more smooth, subtle wine.

  • I agree with another reviewer that this needs a lot of air. On the first night it was intense and primary-I thought it tasted like smoky cough syrup. Much better on the second night - still a bit over the top but more integrated and complex. Hadn’t changed much by the third night. Though it improved over time I never really thought it was delicious.

  • Pop and pour first night - was a good but not great wine. Nice fruit. Second night it opened up very nicely and was a very good wine. Lesson - air this one out.

  • Deep dark purple in color, dark fruit with a whiff of pepper on the nose, more dark fruit, smoke, and a hint of sweetness on the palate. Served with a minimum of air time after opening (30 minutes). A wine to enjoy now
