Nicely balanced new world chard with evidence of root in the old. Moderately creamy and buttery but also bright with acidity. Long finish and nice texture. Light citrus and pear. Really nice

I am a fan of the Palmaz winery in Napa. Beautiful winery, views and technology applied to wine making. Visit if you can! Though I like their Red wines most, this tasting is of the 2018 Amalia Chardonnay.
Coravinned a glass for this tasting straight from storage at 55 degrees. I like Chardonnay about that temperature not much colder.
On the pour, the color is fairly light -- straw-like. Doesn't look like a heavy chardonnay oak bomb. The nose definitely has some apple tones to it but there is something a bit deeper there too. I would know its not a sav blanc or Riesling if blind tasting.
On the tongue the acidity is clear and clean and the taste resolves to more traditional chardonnay elements of honey. While tasting the aroma seems more complex, a bit more floral and its very refreshing.
I am left with a clean, light, acidic white wine with a touch of minerality lingering in the finish.
I really like the that this isn't too heavy. It would be nice on its own on a spring day, or pair nicely with chicken and vegetables, or simply light hors d'oeuvres
